Elderberry Syrup Recipe
Have you ever made your own elderberry syrup? It's super easy and so much cheaper than buying it from the store! My kids and I take it daily to keep our immune systems healthy, and when an illness strikes we take it several times a day!
A little about elderberries, or rather the reasons I give it to my family... they are high in vitamins A, B, and C, they are a natural immune booster, and they are an antioxidant.
Here's my recipe!
Ingredients
-
2/3 cup dried elderberries-- I buy the Frontier Organic Elderberries on Amazon-- link in my Favorite Things tab.
-
3 1/2 filtered water
-
1 cup honey
Procedure
-
Place your dried elderberries and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil.
-
Reduce heat an allow to simmer for 45-60 minutes.
-
Allow to cool to a lukewarm temperature.
-
Add honey and stir.
-
Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
Each day my kids take 1/2-1 teaspoon and I take 1 tablespoon. If an illness strikes we take our dosing every 2 hours until symptoms subside.
